Leading the charge is Recall, a revolutionary feature that continuously takes secure snapshots of your on-screen activity and stores them locally. Think of it as a searchable visual timeline, allowing you to revisit past content—from websites and documents to images and messages—without needing to remember filenames or URLs.

Using natural language, you can ask Recall to find something you previously saw (e.g., “that Excel file I had open last Monday” or “the recipe I looked at yesterday”), and it will show you the exact moment. Recall is an opt-in feature that can be enabled during setup, with strong privacy protections, including Windows Hello authentication and the ability to fully disable or uninstall it via system settings.

Click-to-Do: Contextual AI at Your Fingertips (Preview)

Click-to-Do is another forward-thinking tool, designed to streamline actions by offering contextual AI suggestions based on what is on your screen. Simply press Windows key + Click (or swipe right on touchscreens), and a menu of relevant AI-powered actions will appear.

For example:

  • On images: remove backgrounds, enhance photos, or copy text.
  • On text: summarize, translate, or rephrase content.

Currently, text-based actions are exclusive to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with AMD and Intel compatibility expected soon. Click-to-Do options will also be integrated into Windows tools like the Snipping Tool and Start Menu for easy access.

AI-Powered Windows Search: Natural Language, Instant Results

The updated Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs uses a local language model running on the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to deliver lightning-fast, intelligent search results. Now you can search in plain English “open my latest presentation” or “find the Excel sheet from last week” without needing to remember exact file names or paths.

This enhanced search spans File Explorer, Settings, and installed apps, making discovery more intuitive than ever.

System Requirements for Copilot+ PCs

These features rely on hardware with integrated NPUs capable of 40+ TOPS (trillions of operations per second). The minimum specs for Recall and Copilot+ functionality include:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series, Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake), or Qualcomm Snapdragon X (Elite, Plus, or standard)
  • NPU: Built-in with 40+ TOPS performance
  • RAM: Minimum 16GB
  • Storage: At least 256GB SSD/UFS with 50GB free space for Recall to operate

Currently, these features are not supported on desktop PCs, but future hardware releases may change that.
