After months, Noctua has finally resolved what they dub “Rattlegate” – which affected its newest flagship air cooler, the NH-D15 G2. Reports state the Austrian cooling manufacture has rectified the coolers vibration problems caused by shipping at the factory, eliminating the issue on new production models.

For current customers, who neglected to be refunded when this was offered by the company, will now be offered a fix comprised of “free stainless steel covers that can be attached to the sides of the cooling fins”. This improves the interlocking mechanism between the cooling fins and heat-pipes.

The problem surrounded two of the top fins in the heatsink assembly, where the interlocking mechanism on the top fin could loosen during shipping, casing a vibration and rattling sound during operation. This was unacceptable for both the company and consumers, considering Noctua air coolers are considered one of quietest and best preforming options on the market.

Thankfully, with the issue now fixed, customers with existing NH-D15 G2 coolers will be granted three options to deal with the problem. First is the free stainless steel panels being offered, Second is to exchange the cooler for a model from the adapted series. Finally, the customer can request a full refund.
