Nvidia RTX 40-series “SUPER” GPU Refresh Rumored to Release at CES 2024

Nvidia’s RTX 40-series “SUPER” GPUs may be just a few months away if rumors are correct.

CES 2024 will be taking place in Las Vegas, USA, between the 9th and 12th of January. It is rumored this will be when Nvidia officially unveils their latest graphics cards, the RTX 40-series “SUPER” refresh. Although Nvidia is yet to announce an official event or keynote, but with rumors circulating as much as they are – we are surely well on our way to seeing the GPU at CES 2024. Being a major product announcement, given past trends, it is likely that we will see it announced in just a few months’ time.

What we know so far is that Nvidia is expected to launch at least three graphics cards within the GeForce RTX 40-series “SUPER” refresh. Included in that line-up is the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and the RTX 4070 SUPER. These naming conventions are not yet finalized so they may change before announcement.

It is important to bear in mind that Nvidia often makes and evaluates several SKUs prior to release to avoid leaks of the actual “launch” hardware.  Taking that into account, these rumors may or may not materialize. What does often happen is rumored SKUs showing up in the “wild”, in some shape or form, after the retail SKUs are released.

The top end SKU, the RTX 4080 SUPER is rumored to have both 16GB and 20GB versions, with a 320-bit memory bus on the 20GB model and a 256-bit bus on the 16GB model. Which version enters the market remains to be seen. Clock speeds and memory bandwidth are still to be determined and have not yet been leaked. From the leaked specs, we can see that when compared to the RTX 4080, the RTX 4080 SUPER is increasing its GPU core count from 9728 to 10240. The card is expected to have a TDP of 320W.

As with all leaked information, it is important to remember that while this information may come to fruition, it is just as likely not to. Take it with a grain of salt – even so, it is something to be excited about.
