RTX 4060 Ti to Hit the Market in May, RTX 3060 Ti to be Discontinued
A recent leak has revealed that Nvidia reportedly wants its partners to start selling the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB model on the 24th of May 2023 – as with all leaks, its important to take the information with a grain of salt.
Nvidia supposedly intends to formally reveal three of their ADA Lovelace RTX 4060-series models – The GeForce RTX 4060, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. Reportedly this unveiling is scheduled sometime in mid-May. It remains to be seen if Nvidia will release information on all the SKU’s or if they will incrementally release the information.
The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is planned to become available on the market on the 24th of May – note this is not confirmed by a direct Nvidia source. This release date would make sense as a strategy on Nvidia’s part, as it would mean releasing a GPU just a day before AMD is expected to lift the embargo on RX 7600 reviews – stealing some of AMD’s thunder.
The standard RTX 4060 8GB will before available in the first half of July. If the leaks are correct, the more expensive RTX 4060 16GB will follow in the send half of July. The TDP of the cards are rumoured to be around the 160W mark.
With the Upcoming release of the RTX 4060 Ti-series cards, Nvidia is reportedly discontinuing production of their RTX 3060 TI. As seen below, although the RTX 3060 Ti never reached the most used GPU on steam – It’s very high on the list. Making it a popular card for gamers. This is because it Hit the sweet spot for most people on the price to performance scale.
As mentioned above – this is unconfirmed information, but we can rely on the past as a guide. Nvidia does usually pull its last generation card off the market once it’s replacement releases. So, although some information out there is fake, some isn’t – it remains to be seen which side of the fence this falls on.
