Microsoft Windows 10 build update 2004
The new Windows 10 build 2004 update has been released, and is slowly being seeded out to various computers. The update, released on May 27, has added various changes and updates that introduced some quality of life improvements. Here are some of the most noteworthy and impactful updates that are now available to you.
Quick searches in search home.
To help you get the information you need faster, Microsoft has added four quick searches to the search home:
- Weather: Get up to date weather conditions and upcoming forecasts.
- Top news: The latest trending news from popular news sources.
- Today in history: Discover historic events that happened on this day.
- New Movies: Find out what movies are playing in cinemas near you.
Quick searches are currently limited to the US but will be available internationally shortly.
To download and install Windows 10, version 2004, use Windows Update (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update). For more information, see this video.
GPU Temperature now in Task Manager.
If you have a dedicated graphics card, you will now be able to see your card’s temperature in the performance tab in task manager. This is a big quality of life improvement for anyone who wants to know what temperatures their graphics card is reaching during gaming or editing without having to use third party software.
Mouse curser speed now in Settings.
You now have the option to set the sensitivity of your mouse from Settings, this means that you won’t have to get a fancy gaming mouse if you prefer a higher sensitivity. You can find this option under Settings > Devices > Mouse.
Added control over Windows update downloads.
Earlier this year an update to Windows 10 allowed you to set how much bandwidth was used by Windows updates as a percentage. Many users with slower internet speed said that this still did not provide enough relief, so you can now set an absolute value of how much data Delivery Optimisation can use. Delivery Optimisation is responsible for all Microsoft downloads, including Office updates. You can find this feature in Settings > Update & Security > Delivery Optimization > Advanced Options.
